What is
Battle Ready?
It may be easier to
tell you what it is not. It’s not a typical
church get-away. It’s much deeper than that.
It’s a weekend designed to help men get to the
heart of what it means to be an authentic man,
created from the heart of God.
Who is it
for?
It’s for men. All
men, not just men from the church. In the past
men of all ages, from the 20s to the 80s, have
participated. We also invite our boys to come
along for the adventure and invitation into
authentic manhood (Grades 4 and up.
Grades, 4, 5 & 6 must have adult chaperone
attending.)
Why bring
boys?
These young men need
to see and experience what authentic Christian
manhood is. Then, they can be invited into the
journey.
Why go to
the mountains?
Why not? There’s
just something about getting away from the
distractions of everyday life that helps us hear
God more clearly.

NEW FOR 2010
We always have the option of
white water rafting on the Ocoee River, but not
everyone is able to do this. This year we
have three rafting options - different levels
and costs so that more guys can participate if
they choose. All rafting options are in
addition to your registration cost of $150 per
person.
OPTION ONE:
MIDDLE OCOEE
This
is the same rafting trip we have traditionally
taken. It puts you on the river for about
2 - 2 1/2 hours.
Rafters must be at least 12 years
old. The exciting Middle Ocoee raft trip
begins against the roaring backdrop of
whitewater falling down Ocoee Dam #2, with the
explosive entrance rapid called "Grumpy's." The
action hardly slows down during this five-mile
stretch of whitewater. Highlights include
negotiating major Class III and IV rapids with
names like Table Saw, Broken Nose, Double
Trouble, Double Suck and Powerhouse.
Cost for this option is $46 per person.
OPTION TWO:
UPPER/MIDDLE OCOEE COMBO
THIS OPTION IS FULL.
This
is a full day trip putting us on the river for
four hours.
Rafters must be at least 13 years
old. The Ocoee Combo whitewater trip adds
five miles of world-class whitewater to the
already-loaded Middle Ocoee trip. Featuring the
1996 Olympic Canoe and Kayak course, the Upper
Ocoee doubles the fun with Olympic caliber
thrills! They weren't kidding when they named
one of this section's rapids "Humongous!"
Cost for this option is $91 per person.
The
Hiwassee River is a Class I and II river with no
guide needed. There is no age minimum for
this river. It's great fun as rafters can
either go it alone in a one man funyak
(inflatable kayak) or can double up in a two man
funyak. These self-bailing funyaks are
easy to handle and great for the guy who just
wants a little more relaxing ride. This is
also great for the boys too young to go down the
Ocoee. Cost for this option is $30 for
a one man funyak or $44 for a two man funyak.
Join us for our
annual men's getaway weekend. This weekend
is open for all boys, grades 4 and up and men.
All 4th, 5th & 6th grade boys must have an adult
chaperone attending.
